Volunteers keep the wheels spinning here at Bend Bikes and our advocacy efforts depend on volunteer support to succeed!

Volunteer Opportunities

Bend Bikes is a mostly volunteer-run organization and we highly value our volunteers! There are many ways to get involved, including advocacy work, community outreach and education, event planning and support, fundraising, and technology projects such as maintaining and improving our bike map.

Current Offerings:

Bike Bus Ambassadors
As school approaches we are looking for volunteers and parents interested in helping to organize and lead bike buses to their local schools. Bend Bikes has assisted with some of these efforts over the years and hopes to help empower volunteers to organize more events in the upcoming school year. We can help with route planning, ride support and promotion. These could be daily, weekly, monthly or even one off events. See Jim Elliot’s article above for a better idea of what one of these events looks like locally. Email us at [email protected] if your are interested in learning more and helping out!

Video Editing Volunteer
Are you savvy with video editing or interested in learning? Bend Bikes is in the process of ramping up our video story-telling presence and could use your help! We are currently looking for a motivated individual to help create short and long-form videos to tell stories and educate the public about biking in Bend. We can provide training as well as a video-editing laptop. Email us at [email protected] to learn more!

Social Ride Support Volunteers
We are looking for more folks to join us on their bikes to help block traffic during our social rides and other educational rides. Our list of upcoming rides can be found here. Email us at [email protected] if your are interested in helping out!

Additionally, we are always looking for more volunteers to:

  1. Help with outreach by staffing our table during public events;
  2. Help engage local neighborhood associations to support our mission;
  3. Serve on any of the many City of Bend committees that advise City Council on issues that impact active transportation in our community;
  4. Submit written and verbal testimony at City Council meetings (sign up for our newsletter for our calls to action!); and
  5. Join our various Board committees that do the nitty gritty work around Bend Bikes’ organizational operations, our bike map project (GIS and other relevant technical skills required), advocacy efforts, and outreach.

Are you interested in volunteering or have other questions? Please email us at [email protected], we look forward to hearing from you!
