Thanks for Making It Fun! 2019 Holiday Lights Ride

Volunteers @ HLR
Eddie Kula and Jim Elliott (left to right) led/swept the long ride at the Holiday Lights Ride

There was a big smile on our collective faces as we cleaned up the room at the Bend Senior Center this past Saturday.  One more outstandingly (tell your children to ignore made-up words like this one) fun Holiday Lights Ride in the books.

An event like HLR just would not have been possible without many hands a-helping: from Bend Bikes Board members, to our volunteers, to the fun-loving attendees who braved some chilly weather, to the generous support of local businesses for the food, drink and raffle prizes that made the night a great time.

Our new Board President, LeeAnn O’Neill, said it best when she spoke at the event.  We’re proud of some of the strides Bend has made in active transportation this past year (two newly minted Neighborhood Greenways ain’t too shabby), but we are looking forward to what’s possible in a multi-million dollar transportation bond package that will likely hit mailboxes in the Spring of 2020.  Be on the lookout for opportunities to lend a hand if you’re interested in ensuring that active transportation projects are front-and-center in the upcoming funding package.

Here’s wishing you a happy and safe 2020.
